The Guidelines
Accessibility is about ensuring that as many users as possible are able to use your website effectively even if they have disabilities. In fact, the Disability Discrimination Act of 1995 in conjunction with the Code of Practise published by the Disability Rights Commission in 2002 requires that certain guidelines are followed.
As a summary, we have taken the following measures to make this website as accessible as possible to the widest possible audience:
- All non-text elements such as images have associated 'alt' text to enable users with screen readers to appreciate this content.
- This site is useable in black and white.
- Good contrast has been applied at all times between content and the background it is placed upon.
- The use of 'flickering' content has been avoided completely.
- The language has been written clearly and is appropriate to the site's content.
- No nested tables or frames have been used in the production of this site.
- The site works perfectly well with CSS styles and images disabled.
- Should all else fail, we have provided a plain sitemap for easy navigation!
